The pink tagar plant (botanical name: Tabernaemontana divaricata) is a beautiful, low-maintenance flowering plant. While it’s usually grown outdoors, you can grow it indoors in a pot with the right care.
🌱 1. Pot & Soil Setup
- Pot: Use a medium pot (8–12 inches) with good drainage holes
- Soil mix:
- Garden soil (40%)
- Compost/vermicompost (30%)
- Sand or cocopeat (30%)
- Soil should be well-draining but slightly moist
☀️ 2. Light Requirements (Very Important)
- Tagar needs bright light
- Keep near a south or east-facing window
- Needs 4–6 hours of sunlight daily
- If light is low → fewer or no flowers
👉 Indoors, flowering is the biggest challenge due to light shortage.
💧 3. Watering
- Water when the top inch of soil feels dry
- Avoid overwatering (roots may rot)
- In summer: every 2–3 days
- In winter: once a week (approx.)
🌡️ 4. Temperature & Humidity
- Ideal temperature: 18–32°C
- Avoid cold drafts or AC airflow
- Likes moderate humidity → occasional misting helps indoors
