Rebutia Krainziana (Crown Cactus) Plant – Grow & Care Guide

Rebutia krainziana, commonly known as the Crown Cactus, is a small, globular cactus admired for its clusters of bright orange to scarlet-red flowers that bloom around the top of the plant, creating a beautiful crown-like appearance. It is an excellent choice for windowsills, balconies, rock gardens, and succulent collections due to its compact size and easy maintenance.

Plant Care

🌞 Sunlight

• Prefers 4–6 hours of bright direct sunlight daily.
• Morning sunlight is ideal, while light afternoon shade is beneficial during extremely hot summers.
• Indoors, place near a south- or west-facing window with plenty of light.

💧 Watering

• Water only when the soil has dried out completely.
• During spring and summer, water every 10–15 days, depending on temperature.
• Reduce watering significantly in winter, watering only once every 3–4 weeks or less.
• Avoid waterlogging, as excess moisture can cause root rot.

🌱 Soil

• Use a well-draining cactus and succulent potting mix.
• A mix containing coarse sand, perlite, pumice, or small gravel provides excellent drainage.
• Ensure the pot has drainage holes.

🌡️ Temperature

• Ideal growing temperature: 18–30°C.
• Can tolerate cooler temperatures if kept dry but should be protected from frost.
• Avoid prolonged exposure below 5°C.
