🌿 Plant Care

☀️ Sunlight

  • Prefers bright, indirect light.
  • Morning sunlight for 2–4 hours is beneficial.
  • Avoid harsh afternoon sun, which can scorch the stems.

💧 Watering

  • Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry.
  • Keep the soil slightly moist during spring and summer.
  • Reduce watering in winter, but do not let the soil remain completely dry for long periods.
  • Avoid waterlogging.

🌡️ Temperature

  • Ideal range: 18°C–30°C.
  • Protect from temperatures below 10°C.
  • Enjoys moderate to high humidity.

🌱 Soil

  • Use a fast-draining cactus or orchid mix.
  • A good mix:
    • 40% cocopeat
    • 30% orchid bark
    • 20% perlite or pumice
    • 10% compost or leaf mould

🪴 Pot

  • Grow in a pot with drainage holes.
  • Hanging baskets are ideal as the stems cascade beautifully.
  • Repot every 2–3 years or when root-bound.

🌿 Fertilizer

  • Feed once every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength.
  • Stop fertilizing during winter dormancy.

🌸 Flowering

  • Produces large, fragrant white to cream flowers that usually bloom at night.
  • Mature plants flower more reliably after experiencing slightly cooler temperatures and reduced watering during late autumn.

✂️ Pruning

  • Remove damaged or dried stems.
  • Trim overgrown stems to maintain shape.
  • Healthy stem cuttings root easily and can be propagated.

🐛 Common Problems

  • Yellow stems: Overwatering or poor drainage.
  • Wrinkled stems: Underwatering.
  • Soft, black stems: Root or stem rot due to excess moisture.
  • Mealybugs or scale insects: Wipe with neem oil or insecticidal soap.

🌱 Propagation

  • Take a healthy stem cutting (10–15 cm).
  • Let the cut end dry for 2–3 days.
  • Plant in a moist, well-draining mix.
  • Keep in bright indirect light until roots develop (about 3–6 weeks).
