Growing Kunda in a pot is quite easy if you give it the right soil, sunlight, and pruning. It’s a beautiful flowering shrub with white star-like flowers and works well for balconies or terraces. 🌼🌿
1. Choose the Right Pot
- Use a 10–14 inch pot with drainage holes.
- Clay or cement pots work best because they keep roots cool.
- If the plant grows bigger later, shift to a 16–18 inch pot.
2. Best Soil Mix
Kunda likes well-drained but fertile soil.
Ideal potting mix:
- 40% garden soil
- 30% compost or vermicompost
- 20% river sand
- 10% cocopeat
Optional: Add a handful of neem cake powder to prevent pests.
3. Sunlight
- Needs 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily ☀️
- Place the pot in south or west facing balcony/terrace.
- Too much shade → fewer flowers.
4. Watering
- Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil becomes dry.
- Usually:
- Summer: every 1–2 days
- Winter: every 3–4 days
- Avoid waterlogging.
5. Fertilizer
Feed every 15–20 days for good flowering.
Good options:
- Vermicompost
- Cow dung compost
- Banana peel fertilizer
- Liquid seaweed fertilizer
