Begum Bahar is an easy, fast-growing flowering plant.
🌞 Sunlight (MOST IMPORTANT)
- Needs full sunlight to bloom well
- Minimum 6–8 hours direct sun daily
- Flowers open in bright sunlight and close in shade/cloudy weather
🌱 Soil
- Light, well-drained soil
- Best mix:
- Garden soil – 40%
- Sand – 40%
- Compost or cocopeat – 20%
- Avoid heavy or clay soil (causes root rot)
🌿 How to Grow (Two Easy Methods)
🌼 1. From Cuttings (Fastest)
- Cut a healthy stem (4–6 inches)
- Remove lower leaves
- Let cutting dry for 3–4 hours
- Plant directly in dry soil
- Water lightly after 1 day
👉 New roots form in 7–10 days
🌼 2. From Seeds
- Sow seeds on top of soil (do not bury deeply)
- Press gently and mist water
- Keep in sunlight
- Seeds germinate in 5–7 days
💧 Watering
- Water only when soil is dry
- Summer: 2–3 times per week
- Rainy/Winter: very little water
❌ Overwatering kills the plant
🪴 Pot Selection
- Shallow pots or hanging baskets are best
- Must have drainage holes
- Spreads quickly and trails beautifully
🌼 Fertilizer
- Use light feeding
- Every 15 days:
- Liquid compost tea OR
- Very diluted flower fertilizer
- Too much fertilizer = more leaves, fewer flowers
✂️ Pruning
- Pinch tips regularly for bushy growth
- Remove dried flowers to encourage more blooms
