Kuchla (Strychnos nux-vomica) beej (often called Nux Vomica seed) is used in Ayurveda,
1️⃣ Purification first (Shodhana)
In Ayurveda the seeds are detoxified before use.
Common traditional methods:
- Seeds are soaked in cow urine or milk for several days
- Then boiled in milk
- Outer hard shell is removed
- Seed is dried and powdered
This purification process reduces toxicity.
2️⃣ Common Ayurvedic Uses
After purification, very small doses of kuchla are used for:
- Nerve weakness
- Paralysis
- Joint pain
- Digestive weakness
- Male weakness
- Chronic constipation
It is also an ingredient in medicines like:
- Vishatinduka Vati
- Agnitundi Vati
3️⃣ Typical dosage
After purification:
- 30–125 mg powder
- Usually mixed with honey or ghee
- Taken once or twice daily
