Kamini (also called Murraya paniculata or Orange Jasmine) is a fragrant flowering plant that can be grown.
1. Choosing a Planting Medium
- Use a well-draining potting mix.
- Ideal mix: garden soil + compost + sand (2:1:1).
- Ensure the pot has drainage holes to avoid waterlogging.
2. Choosing a Pot
- Start with a medium-sized pot (10–12 inches diameter).
- As the plant grows, move to a larger pot to accommodate roots.
3. Planting
- Fill the pot partially with the potting mix.
- Remove the plant carefully from its nursery bag.
- Place it in the center and fill around the roots with soil.
- Press the soil gently and water thoroughly.
4. Light Requirements
- Needs bright, indirect sunlight.
- Can tolerate partial shade, but flowering may reduce.
- A south-facing window is ideal.
5. Watering
- Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy.
- Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil is dry.
- Reduce watering in winter.
6. Temperature & Humidity
- Prefers 20–30°C (68–86°F).
- Avoid cold drafts; temperatures below 10°C (50°F) may harm it.
- Mist the leaves occasionally to maintain humidity.
