The green leaves of the Shiuli or Parijat tree (Nyctanthes arbor-tristis)—also known as Night-flowering Jasmine—have a long history in traditional Ayurvedic .
🌿 1. Parijat Leaf Tea (Kashayam)
Ingredients:
- 5–7 fresh Parijat leaves (washed thoroughly)
- 2 cups of water
- Optional: a small piece of ginger or tulsi leaves for taste and added benefits
Method:
- Boil the leaves in 2 cups of water until it reduces to about 1 cup.
- Strain and drink warm.
- You can add a little honey or jaggery if the taste is too bitter.
Dosage:
- Once or twice daily, preferably on an empty stomach in the morning or evening.
- Use for 3–7 days, then take a break.
🌿 2. Parijat Leaf Paste (for External Use)
Method:
- Crush or grind fresh Parijat leaves into a smooth paste.
- Apply the paste over the affected area (joints, swollen areas, insect bites).
- Leave for 20–30 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.
Note: Avoid applying to open wounds.
🌿 3. Parijat Leaf Juice
Method:
- Take 5–7 clean fresh leaves.
- Crush them with a little water using a mortar and pestle or blender.
- Strain through a clean cloth to get a tablespoon of green juice.
Dosage:
- 1 tablespoon once daily on an empty stomach.
- Continue for 3–5 days, not longer unless guided by an Ayurvedic practitioner.
