🌸 How to Use Lotus Flowers in Puja
- As an Offering (Pushpanjali)
- Offer whole lotus flowers or just the petals at the feet of the deity during puja.
- Used in Lakshmi puja to symbolize wealth, prosperity, and purity.
- On the Altar
- Place a lotus flower in a small bowl or on a leaf in front of the deity.
- Can be combined with water in a kalash to create a sacred arrangement.
- In Decor / Mandap
- Used for decorating the puja area, especially during festivals like Diwali, Navratri, and Varalakshmi Vratham.
- Fresh lotus flowers can be arranged around idols or on rangoli.
- During Aarti
- Hold the lotus flower in hand while performing aarti or circumambulation (pradakshina) of the deity.
- Can be dipped in water and used to sprinkle sanctified water on the deity.
- With Betel Leaves & Fruits
- Often combined with betel leaf, coconut, and fruits as a complete sacred offering.
- In Lakshmi puja, placing a lotus with coins or turmeric powder is common.
- Symbolic Representation
- If fresh lotus is unavailable, a lotus-shaped offering made from cloth, clay, or paper can be used to represent devotion.
