The dwarf golden snake plant (often a compact variety of Sansevieria trifasciata, also called Dracaena trifasciata) is one of the easiest indoor plants to grow—great for pots and low-maintenance care.
🌱 Pot & Soil
- Pot: Use a pot with drainage holes (very important).
- Soil: Well-draining mix is key
- Best: cactus/succulent mix
- Or mix: garden soil + sand + compost (1:1:1)
☀️ Light
- Thrives in bright indirect light
- Can tolerate low light, but growth slows
- Avoid harsh direct sun (can burn leaves)
💧 Watering
- Water only when soil is completely dry
- In general:
- Summer: every 10–14 days
- Winter: every 2–3 weeks
- Overwatering is the biggest mistake (causes root rot)
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
- Ideal: 18–30°C
- Keep away from cold drafts (<10°C)
- Normal room humidity is fine (no need to mist)
🌿 Fertilizer
- Feed lightly during growing season (spring–summer)
- Use liquid fertilizer once a month (diluted)
- No need to fertilize in winter
✂️ Pruning & Maintenance
- Remove yellow or damaged leaves at the base
- Wipe leaves occasionally to keep them dust-free
- Rotate the pot for even growth.
