In Hindu rituals, mango tree branches or sticks (mango lakdi) are considered highly sacred and symbolize purity, auspiciousness, and prosperity.
🌿 How to Use Mango Tree Branches / Lakdi for Puja
1. Kalash Decoration
- Take fresh mango twigs/branches with leaves.
- Place 5–7 twigs around the neck of the kalash (sacred pot filled with water).
- This is usually done during Griha Pravesh, Navratri, Ganesh Puja, or Lakshmi Puja.
- A coconut is placed on top of the kalash, with mango leaves forming a circle under it.
- The combination represents purity, life, and prosperity.
2. Torana / Door Hanging
- Mango twigs with leaves can be tied into toranas and hung above the main entrance during festivals or ceremonies.
3. Homa / Havan Ritual
- Small mango sticks can be used to stir the sacred fire or offer into the fire as part of the ritual (symbolizing life energy and purity).
- Fresh mango wood is considered clean and non-toxic for fire offerings.
4. Purification
- Mango twigs can be dipped in water and used to sprinkle around the pooja area for sanctification.
