Chia seeds are tiny black or white seeds from Salvia hispanica, a plant native to Central America. They’re considered a superfood because they’re packed with nutrients while being low in calories.
🍴 How to Use Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are neutral in taste and very versatile. You don’t need to grind them like flaxseeds.
- Soaked (Best Way)
- Mix 1–2 tablespoons in a glass of water, milk, or juice. Let sit for 15–30 minutes (or overnight). They form a gel-like texture that’s easy to digest.
- Chia Pudding
- Combine chia seeds with milk (dairy or plant-based), add honey or fruit, and refrigerate overnight for a healthy breakfast or snack.
- Smoothies
- Add 1 tablespoon to your smoothie (soaked or dry).
- Sprinkled
- Sprinkle on yogurt, oatmeal, salads, or toast.
- Baking
- Use in muffins, pancakes, or bread.
- Can substitute for eggs: mix 1 tablespoon chia seeds + 3 tablespoons water, let sit until gel forms.
- Energy Drinks
- Add to water with lemon and honey for a hydrating drink.
