1. Climate & Location
- Native to Himalayan regions (altitude 3,000–4,600 m).
- Prefers cool, moist, and shaded areas.
- Needs well-drained loamy soil rich in organic matter.
2. Propagation
- Usually propagated via seeds or rhizome divisions.
- Seeds need to be sown fresh; they lose viability quickly.
- Prefers a cold stratification period (simulate winter) for germination.
3. Planting Method
- Sow seeds 1–2 cm deep in a nursery tray with moist soil.
- Keep the soil cool and moist (avoid waterlogging).
- Transplant seedlings after 6–8 months when they are strong enough.
4. Care
- Water moderately; soil should be moist but not soggy.
- Mulch with leaves/compost to retain moisture.
- Protect from direct scorching sun; prefers partial shade.
