Beetroot microgreens are young, nutrient-packed seedlings of beetroot (Beta vulgaris). They’re easy to grow at home and extremely versatile in your diet.
🪴 How to Plant Beetroot Microgreen Seeds
Materials Needed:
- Beetroot microgreen seeds
- Shallow tray with drainage holes
- Seed-starting soil or coco coir
- Spray bottle for watering
- Light source (sunny window or grow light)
Steps:
- Prepare the tray
- Fill a shallow tray (1–2 inches deep) with seed-starting soil or coco coir.
- Smooth the surface gently.
- Soak the seeds (optional)
- Soak seeds for 4–6 hours to speed up germination. Not strictly necessary, but can improve sprouting rate.
- Sow the seeds
- Sprinkle seeds evenly over the soil surface.
- Lightly press them into the soil (do not cover too deep; a thin layer of soil or just press to touch is enough).
- Water gently
- Mist with a spray bottle to moisten without washing seeds away.
- Provide light and warmth
- Keep in a bright area (sunny window or under grow lights 12–16 hours/day).
- Maintain soil moisture by misting 1–2 times a day.
- Germination and growth
- Seeds usually germinate in 3–5 days.
- Microgreens are ready to harvest in 7–14 days, when they have 2–3 true leaves.
- Harvest
- Use scissors to cut microgreens just above the soil line.
- Rinse lightly and use fresh.
