🌱 Spinach microgreens are nutrient-packed and relatively easy to grow at home.

What you need:

  • Spinach microgreen seeds
  • Shallow tray or container with drainage holes
  • Seed-starting soil/coconut coir (well-draining, fine texture)
  • Spray bottle for misting
  • Light source (sunny window or grow light)

Steps:

  1. Prepare the tray
    • Fill your tray with 1–2 inches of moist soil or coconut coir.
    • Gently press and level the surface.
  2. Sow the seeds
    • Scatter spinach microgreen seeds evenly across the surface.
    • Spinach seeds are a bit larger than some other microgreen seeds, so don’t overcrowd.
  3. Cover lightly
    • Sprinkle a very thin layer of soil on top (optional, since spinach likes a bit of cover).
    • Mist with water until evenly moist.
  4. Germination (2–5 days)
    • Keep tray in a dark, warm place until seeds sprout.
    • Cover with another tray/lid to maintain humidity.
    • Mist daily to keep soil moist (not soggy).
  5. Growing (7–14 days)
    • Once sprouted, place tray near sunlight or under a grow light.
    • Continue misting daily.
    • Spinach microgreens are usually ready to harvest when they are 2–4 inches tall, with 2–3 sets of leaves.
  6. Harvest
    • Cut the greens just above soil level with clean scissors.
    • Wash gently before eating.
