How to Use Flax Seeds
Flax seeds can be eaten whole, ground, or as oil. Ground flaxseeds are usually preferred because whole seeds may pass through undigested.
- Ground Flax Seeds
- Add 1–2 tablespoons to smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt, or soups.
- Mix into baked goods (bread, muffins, pancakes).
- Stir into salads or sprinkle on vegetables.
- Flax Seed Oil
- Use as a salad dressing base (not for frying, since it’s heat-sensitive).
- Egg Substitute (for vegan baking)
- Mix 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 3 tablespoons water → let sit for 5 min → replaces 1 egg.
- With Water (Flaxseed Drink)
- Soak 1–2 teaspoons in warm water for a few hours and drink for digestive health.
