🍵 What Is Senna Flower Tea?
Senna (Cassia angustifolia or Cassia acutifolia) is a herb commonly used to relieve constipation and cleanse the digestive system.
While senna leaves and pods are stronger, the flowers are milder and often used for gentle cleansing, bloating relief, and detox.
🌿 Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon dried senna flowers
- 1½ cups water
- (Optional): a pinch of ginger, fennel seeds, or a drop of honey for flavor
🔪 How to Prepare Senna Flower Tea
- Boil 1½ cups of water.
- Add 1 teaspoon of dried senna flowers.
- Simmer for 5–7 minutes on low heat.
- Turn off heat and let it steep for 5 minutes.
- Strain and drink warm.
☕ Optional:
- Add a slice of ginger for digestion support.
- Add ½ tsp honey or lemon juice for taste (after the tea cools slightly).
⏰ When & How Often to Drink
- Drink 1 cup once a day, preferably at night before bed.
- Effects (bowel movement) are usually seen within 6–8 hours.
- Do not use for more than 7–10 days continuously — senna is meant for short-term use only.
