🌤️ 1. Light Requirements

  • Needs: Bright, indirect sunlight or direct morning sun.
  • Ideal spot: A south- or west-facing window.
  • Tip: Rotate the pot every few weeks so all sides get light evenly.
  • Avoid: Too little light — it will stretch out and lose shape.

🌡️ 2. Temperature & Humidity

  • Ideal temp: 70–85°F (21–29°C) during the day; can tolerate down to 50°F (10°C) at night.
  • Humidity: Prefers dry air — normal indoor humidity is perfect.
  • Avoid: Cold drafts or overly humid rooms (like bathrooms).

💧 3. Watering

  • Spring–Summer: Water once every 2–3 weeks when soil is completely dry.
  • Fall–Winter: Cut back to once a month or less (they go semi-dormant).
  • Tip: Use the “soak and dry” method — water thoroughly, let excess drain, then don’t water again until soil is bone dry.
  • Avoid: Overwatering! It’s the main reason cacti die.

🌱 4. Soil & Pot

  • Soil: Use a cactus/succulent mix — fast-draining soil.
    • You can make your own: 2 parts regular potting soil + 1 part coarse sand + 1 part perlite or pumice.
  • Pot: Terracotta or clay pot with drainage holes.
    • These help moisture evaporate faster.

🌸 5. Fertilizing

  • When: Once a month during growing season (spring and summer).
  • Fertilizer: Diluted cactus fertilizer or a low-nitrogen, balanced liquid fertilizer.
  • Skip: Fall and winter.

✂️ 6. Propagation

  • Easy: Offsets (“pups”) form at the base.
  • Gently twist off a pup, let the cut end callous for 2–3 days, then plant it in dry cactus soil.
  • Water after a week or so once roots start forming.
