Fresh Neem bark (also called Neem chaal, Veppam pattai in Tamil, Nimbaka in Sanskrit, Margosa bark in English) is one of the most powerful and bitter parts of the neem tree, known in Ayurveda.

Neem bark is traditionally used as a natural toothbrush and gum strengthener.

➤ Method 1: Chewing stick

  1. Cut a small, fresh twig (6–8 inches) from the neem tree.
  2. Remove the hard outer bark slightly to expose the softer inner part.
  3. Chew the end until it becomes brush-like, then gently brush your teeth and gums.
  4. Rinse your mouth with clean water.
🕒 Use daily in the morning.

➤ Method 2: Mouth rinse

  1. Boil a few small bark pieces in 2 cups of water for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Strain and let it cool.
  3. Use as a mouthwash twice daily to prevent plaque, gum infections, and bad breath.

🩹 2. For Skin

Neem bark has antimicrobial and healing properties.

➤ Method 1: Neem bark paste

  1. Scrape or grind the fresh bark into a fine paste with a little water or rose water.
  2. Apply directly to acne, wounds, rashes, or infected skin areas.
  3. Leave for 15–20 minutes, then rinse.
🕒 Use once daily for mild infections or 2–3 times weekly for acne.

➤ Method 2: Neem bark decoction (wash)

  1. Boil small pieces of neem bark in water (1:5 ratio) for 20 minutes.
  2. Strain and cool.
  3. Use this water to wash affected areas or add to bath water for skin detox.

🧘‍♀️ 3. For Internal Detox & Immunity

Neem bark purifies the blood, supports the liver, and strengthens immunity.
⚠️ However, it’s very bitter and potent, so use in small quantities.

➤ Method 1: Neem bark tea

  1. Take 1 teaspoon of finely chopped bark (or ½ inch piece).
  2. Boil in 2 cups of water for 10–15 minutes.
  3. Strain and drink once daily (preferably in the morning, on an empty stomach).
  4. You may add a bit of honey or lemon to balance the bitterness.

🪮 4. For Hair & Scalp

Neem bark helps fight dandruff, lice, and scalp infections.

➤ Method:

  1. Boil neem bark pieces in water (about 10–15 minutes).
  2. Let cool, strain, and use the water as a final rinse after shampooing.
  3. You can also mix neem bark powder/paste into hair masks with aloe vera or coconut oil.
