🌿 Calathea Maranta – how to grow
Light: Bright filtered/indirect light. Keep it under shade; avoid strong afternoon sunlight.
Soil: Use a soft, airy mix such as:
- 40% cocopeat
- 30% compost
- 20% garden soil
- 10% perlite/sand
Water: Keep the soil evenly moist, but don’t let water stand in the pot. Water when the top 1–2 cm begins to dry.
Humidity: High humidity is important. Around 60–80% humidity gives better leaf growth and reduces crispy edges.
Temperature: Around 20–30°C is ideal. Protect it from very hot direct sun and cold AC air.
Fertilizer: During active growth, give a diluted balanced fertilizer about once every 3–4 weeks.
Pot: Use a pot with drainage holes. A 6-inch pot is suitable for a young established plant; increase the pot size gradually as it grows.
🌱 Propagation
The easiest method is division. When repotting, separate a section containing both roots and several healthy shoots, then plant it into a small pot.
