Philodendron pedatum ‘Lacinatum’ is a beautiful climbing philodendron with deeply divided, attractive leaves. It grows well in pots indoors, on balconies, or in a shaded nursery area.
🪴 How to grow in a pot
- Pot: Start with a 6–8 inch pot having good drainage holes. Upgrade the pot when roots become crowded.
- Soil: Use a loose, airy mix such as 40% cocopeat + 30% coco chips/bark + 20% perlite + 10% compost.
- Light: Give bright, indirect light. Avoid strong afternoon sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feels slightly dry. Don’t keep the soil continuously soggy.
- Humidity: It enjoys moderate to high humidity, ideally around 60%+. Good airflow is also important.
- Temperature: Keep it warm, preferably around 18–32°C. Protect it from cold drafts.
- Support: It is a climbing plant, so provide a moss pole, coir pole, bamboo stick, or trellis. Supporting the stem encourages larger, more attractive leaves.
- Fertilizer: During active growth, use a mild balanced fertilizer once every 3–4 weeks.
- Pruning: Remove yellow or damaged leaves. Trim overly long stems to encourage fuller growth.
- Repotting: Usually every 1–2 years, or when roots start filling the pot.
