About the Plant

Rebutia marsoneri is a compact, easy-to-grow cactus native to Bolivia. It forms clusters of round green stems covered with fine spines and produces large, bright yellow or orange-yellow flowers in spring and early summer. It is an excellent choice for windowsills, balconies, and small indoor gardens.

Pot Size

• Small plants: 3–4 inch pot
• Mature plants: 5–6 inch pot
• Ensure the pot has drainage holes.

Potting Mix

Use a well-draining cactus mix:

• 40% coarse river sand
• 30% perlite or pumice
• 20% cocopeat
• 10% compost or leaf mold

Avoid heavy garden soil.

Light Requirements

• Needs 4–6 hours of bright sunlight daily.
• Morning sunlight is ideal.
• Indoors, place near a south- or east-facing window.
• In very hot summers, protect from harsh afternoon sun.

Watering

• Water only when the soil is completely dry.
• Summer: Every 7–10 days (depending on weather).
• Monsoon: Water sparingly.
• Winter: Every 15–25 days.

Never leave the pot standing in water.

Temperature

• Ideal: 15–30°C
• Can tolerate cooler temperatures if kept dry.

Fertilizer
