Calathea Makoyana Peacock Indoor Plant

The Calathea makoyana (often called the Peacock Plant) is beautiful but a bit fussy—once you understand its needs, it thrives indoors.

🌿 Light

• Prefers bright, indirect light
• Avoid direct sun → it can fade or scorch the patterned leaves
• Can tolerate low light, but growth slows

💧 Watering

• Keep soil consistently moist, not soggy
• Water when the top 1–2 inches feel dry
• Use filtered, distilled, or rainwater if possible
  (they’re sensitive to minerals in tap water → brown edges)

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

• Ideal temperature: 18–26°C (65–80°F)
• Loves high humidity (60%+)
  • Mist occasionally
  • Use a humidifier or pebble tray
• Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes

• Needs moisture retention without waterlogging
